Are you using the Ookla/Speednet App? If so, have you tried changing the server that is used for the Speedtest? Try changing the server to London Namesco or Maidenhead XILO, as I find that these servers give the best results. To change the server, click on 'Settings', 'Change Server' select a server & once the server is shown at the top left of the screen, click on the server name to 'Save'.

I can confirm that it is possible to receive decent speeds on the iPad Air, as I get just over 74mb via Wifi (I am on a Fibre Pro). This is via an Apple Airport Express, which I have plugged into my Sky SR101 hub (I have the WiFi disabled on the Sky Hub)

So it's the hub that won't output more than 20mb

      Re: Over 20mb wifi

The Sky hub is 2.4 GHz only (no 5 GHz ). Personally, I have never tried the WiFi on the hub, as I was aware of its limitations, so connected an Airport Express as soon as I switched to Sky Fibre. I would suspect the hub can exceed 20mb, but keep in mind that Sky seem to favour simplicity over performance, which is understandable, given that the average Sky customer is probably not overly technically savvy.

Probably the router - I replaced mine for a Asus RT-N66U yesterday and now get 60Mbps to all wireless devices
