I think a lot of people were getting ready to return to School or Work tomorrow and downloaded as much as they could this evening.

If you could sign up to the thinkbroadband Quality Monitor, the graph it produces may be similar.

Hi, Scubbie. Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm having the exact same problems since a few days ago. Could you poke your contact and see if they are aware of any issues on my exchange?

As mentioned in post #11, could you please set up a Quality Monitor please? This tool is really proving useful to confirm whether an issue exists or not first.

Now we have seen a few of these through the graph it makes life a lot easier in confirming things and I can take this to the person concerned.

Should the network team not have a known issue, the contact can refer them to the graph as potential evidence.

Okay, I've set one up. How long do you suggest I leave it going before reporting back?

Let it run overnight for a start and take a look at it in the morning.

The graph only shows the last 24 hours.

Re: Recent high pings, speed crippled.

I'm having a similar issue. Our pings for games and VoIP services have been perfectly stable all year, but it started going to hell on Saturday (4th Jan), from early evening until the small hours of the morning it's hopelessly inconsistent, and neither games nor skype are really usable at all. We're on the Stirling exchange (01786), which reports no issues either with Sky or BT.

Here's the ThinkBroadband monitor we set up:

      <a title="Broadband Ping" href="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/9c376992c3e21becb8afa7aed7c9b010.html"><img alt="My Broadband Ping - Sky Quality" src="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share-large/9c376992c3e21becb8afa7aed7c9b010.png" /></a>

      Here it is.

Doesn't look too bad - or at least I don't think so. I will let wiser heads mull it over.
Things have perked up again this morning so I'm wondering if it's a problem closer to home. Maybe some water got in somewhere as there seems to be an awful lot of it about.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but since the day that my speeds plummeted and pings climbed, my digibox has been dialling 1272 every day at midnight instead of its usual 0800 number.

Re: Recent high pings, speed crippled.

That does not look like you have a backhaul issue.

It is possibly a line issue and the Modem has resynced and improved things (DLM doing its thing).

Keep an eye on it and see how things go.
