Need help with setting up a switch (sorry if wrong place)

Hi, I need some advice. I would like to hard wire my PS3 and PS4 when released from my SR101. I am looking to buy a switch as I only got 1 Ethernet port free on Hub, I currently have it setup as follows:

      BTO modem into port 1
port 2 goes to desktop computer
port 3 goes to Sky + HD box

I want to run the switch from port 4, so I am guessing that I would need to run an Ethernet cable from port 4 to the switch, then from the switch run the patch cables to the devices that I want wired.

My only question is, does the switch have to be connect to port 1 on the Hub, or could I run it from port 4 with no issues? Thanks in advance.

If you get an unmanaged network switch (the normal kind for the domestic market) then it does not matter which port is used on the Sky Hub SR101.

If your budget allows it, I would suggest that you get a 1Gbit switch. Whilst the SR101 only has 100mb ports, switches tend to last a long time and it would be more useful for the future.

...and you would get up to 1Gb speeds between any devices connected on the Gigabit switch (if they support this) but only 100mbit to other devices through the Sky router.
