There is a good chance you will get a self install, which means you will get the SR102 which has a built in vDSL modem. No extra modem needed. The downside is that as you don't get an engineer house visit, you will have to use your existing wiring. If you don't have one you would be well advised to get a filtered plate, preferably a vDSL one, although an ADSL plate will work OK.

With regards buying cable make sure you get solid copper. Don't buy CCA which is copper coated aluminium which does not have the same quality. Most of the cheap stuff you see on eBay is CCA althiugh there are exceptions.

thank you for getting back to me :-) i currently have this faceplate fitted it then i moved in (ADSL Plug In Faceplate Filter : Broadband Accessories : Maplin Electronics) will this be ok or can anyone recommend a good alternative?

sky said an engineer would be coming so IF they turn up will they fit filtered faceplate and wiring as part of install?

If you get an engineer install he should fit a vDSL plate, but not all do. I rather suspect that sub-contractors will let it go with the existing plate but a good BTO engineer will replace it and check all your wiring.

If you have the old faceplate, stick it back on then they will have to fit a vDSL plate.
