    Exchange congestion starting?

    This is a discussion on Exchange congestion starting? within the Sky Broadband (Fibre) Help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I've noticed recently on my TBB ping graph that there is a bit of a ramp up in the evenings ...

      Exchange congestion starting?

      I've noticed recently on my TBB ping graph that there is a bit of a ramp up in the evenings between 8 and 10pm which looks to me like the start of congestion







      This is with the connection pretty much idle so it's not my usage causing it. At the moment it doesn't seem to cause any problems but when I was with Virgin Media it started like this and quickly got worse.

      Update:

      Sky has indeed identified a back haul issue with your exchange and have booked some contractors to upgrade things for you.

      Unfortunately we are looking at the end of November to mid-December before the fix is complete.

      I have asked about this exchange too. If not myself, someone will respond later today when we know for sure.

      @earthed: Correction to my previous message for your exchange...

      Everything is a month earlier. So it should be fixed over the next few days to a couple of weeks, allowing for any issues which may arise for the contractors.

      @Jan8p: This is being checked at the moment.

      Good news Jan8p...

      Your exchange has been identified as having a backhaul issue and is currently scheduled to receive a suitable upgrade between a few days to a few weeks.

      Again in an ideal world it will be sooner, but the window is to allow for issues that the contractor may come across during the work.

      Just to clarify too, some initial work is done prior to the backhaul being upgraded in order to establish specifically what needs to be done. However sometimes things can go wrong.

      That's great - thanks. It's good to know that Sky do seem to be proactive about resolving congested links
