      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

The only problem with these Latency graphs being off network is that congestion anywhere between Skys network and the origin network will show as a spike on the graph.

Just something to be aware of.

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

As of a few days ago my congestion issue seems to be solved, yesterday's graph:

The problem seemed to be resolved last Thursday evening, however since then pings are around 22ms as opposed to the previous 12ms. The jump in ping can be seem from last Thursday's graph (also showing the long downtime, after which congestion seemed to be resolved). The small downtime at 10pm Friday is me rebooting the router a couple of times.

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

      Thanks for the feedback Jan8p.

Hopefully the delay in the pings is purely down to the line being configured, nothing more.

Do keep an eye on it and let us know if anything changes. Hopefully it will be no more than a couple of weeks to resolve.

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

Well, I've had Fibre since March 2012 (40/10) and it has been great but over the last month or two I've started to notice slower downloads and over the past week I've started to see some relatively high response times in various online games etc.

I've just setup a monitor to see if it reveals any problems like those shown in this thread

EDIT 13/11/13: Below is the past days results:

Looking at other examples this does not seem too bad, it looks like the various games and services I use might be at fault. They are all very separate geographically so perhaps I've just had some bad luck.

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

At the moment that looks like the connection was just busy between 6-7.45pm.

When compared to the graph in post #1 and post #4, where there is a very clear issue, this is quite flat.

How many people are gaming on your connection at the same time?

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

I'm the only user on the connection, I'm going to setup the monitor again late next week when I won't be using the connection at all for a couple of days. I think I just had the bad luck that most of the services I use decided to be on a go slow

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

You can set up and leave the monitor running 24/7.

Whilst Sky's IP Addresses are 'sticky', they tend to stay the same all the time with Fibre, unless you power off your router for at an hour.

Do take a read of the FAQ as it shows some of what you can identify from the graph:

      Re: Exchange congestion starting?

The information I have was the same, but for safety I am advised to allow a few weeks after the primary date in case there is an issue which was unforeseen. This is why I try to quote a window when to expect the work to be competed in and not to quote the date when it is scheduled.

I am chasing for an update for you, but it should be soon.
