      Who supports VPN

Hi, Im aware that the sagem router I have with my sky fibre doesnt support VPN or UPNP

I want to access my NAS on the go and from wherever I am.

Will a new router sort? (Have been reading that its not a straight forward process with sky)

Does anyone know which providers do support UPNP router access through a vpn??

I don't know who made you aware of this, but it is certainly wrong. The Sagem does support VPNs and UPnP. If you want to access the NAS on a regular basis, as Sky IP addresses are dynamic, you must first obtain a DDNS address. Depending on the NAS you have, or intend to get, it will come with software which will enable you to access it remotely. To do this you may need to open specific ports in the router, which, although Sky will not give support, can be done with all Sky routers. There are many on the forum, including myself who run a NAS which can be remotely accessed.

      Re: Who supports VPN

ah great. Just got the info off the internet after searching for it.

I have a qnap 219 which provides cloud access bbut when it tries to configue the router it doesn't work
      So steps are thus
      1. - obtain a ddns for router
      2. - open a port

Could you point me in the direction of info / guidance on doing this

Thanks for your response and help

      Re: Who supports VPN

Just seeing a previous post of yours regarding port forwarding

"Have a look at this Portforward page for instructions on opening ports for Remote anything, which I think should cover your case.
Port Forwarding for the Sagem Fast2504"

So will have a look at this - thanks again
If there is anything else you think I should know then please advise

      Cheers

      Re: Who supports VPN

      1. The best thing you can do is go along to the Qnap forum and you will get all the answers you need. This post for instance shows how to apply for a DDNS address - QNAP NAS Community Forum • View topic - How to Set up DDNS? (Example by DynDNS)

Note that I think you have to sign up for a trial now with DDNS and after the month is up it converts to a free account if you don't want to continue with the full version.

      2. For port forwarding you could do no better than read this - The Port Forwarding Progression - PortForward.com you will also find information on the ports to forward for your particular router on this page - Port Forwarding the Sagem Fast_2504n-Sky Router for QNAP TS-219P Turbo NAS.

      Hope this helps
