You might find your speed goes down a bit due to DLM. That's why you are better checking with ethernet, even if you do not use it. It is not subject to the interference that can slow speed down with wireless, even at different times of the day.

I have a go tommorow let you know the speeds

I ordered fibre today and apparently need a engineer visit to install the fibre in the property as I wont be getting a self install hub...

With regards to price, I didn't pay an activation fee and got fibre free for 6 months as I have Sky Sports...( I am upgrading from standard sky unlimited ADSL)

I also ordered fibre today with no engineer visit needed, which isnt a problem as I would rather do the wiring myself anyway.
Pricing I got no activation fee and 6 months half price.

I did a web chat with sky last night and they give me a number to ring with, not sure if it was special one but after going through the menu and giving my postcode to the computer I was speaking to someone within seconds and a little over 5 minutes I had ordered fibre. After ringing Sky many times over the years I can safely say it was the fastest call I have ever had with them.

Re: No Engineer to setup New Fibre connection

      Just so people know:

Free fibre for 6 months is available to anyone with Sky sports, even if they already have Sky telephone and broadband.

6 months half price fibre is (currently) only available to customers who don't already have Sky telephone and broadband.

Existing customers who don't have sports though can add sports 1 or 2 for 6 months to get the free fibre offer.
This will mean paying 13 for the sports but not paying anything for the fibre for the first 6 months.
If you speak to an advisor who knows what they are doing on the systems then they can set the sports to start on the date the fibre is due to install. Therefore you only pay for it for the actual 6 months of the offer of the free fibre which will start the same day.
Just remember to call Sky 5 months -1 day from fibre activation to give notice on sports channel so you don't pay more than you need to.

Fibre will be normal 20 per month after that.
Fibre doesn't tie you into a 12month tv contract and doesn't (currently) have a no-tv charge like normal broadband.
(I have posted this before, just for anyone who missed previous threads )

      Thanks

I was advised to ring as the website doesnt seem to apply the 6 month deal.

      @bubblegun
I already had Sky Talk and broadband and was given the 6 month half price deal without asking so it might of changed?

      Offers come and go.

Fibre was 6mhp for anyone upgrading in July and August then for September and most of October it's been only 6mhp if not had tel and bb before. It may be coming back on in future or maybe certain other departments still have it for existing customers but where I work the only one existing tel and bb customers can get is the sports offer.

This is a bit off-topic for this thread. Sorry.

Re: No Engineer to setup New Fibre connection

Just had my self install switched on, it's synced at 39998:9995 and that's with the really old socket and wiring i posted earlier in the thread, i was going to fit a new master socket but i think i'll put that on hold for the moment.
