Sky Talk + Fibre install question.

HI After reading through some of the posts im getting abit concerned. Im swapping from virgin ( 120mb ) because for the past 3 months the router will randomly drop out as often as 10mins apart anytime of the day and online gaming has become almost impossible tbh. Anyway, i have a custom build and recently decorated. The old BT line does not come into the house, its dangling free outside lol. For my setup i would require the new open reach phone socket + modem to be installed on an internal wall across from the outside wall, so the router is next to the main computer where i want it. Now... Im not going to have any problems with the install am i that you can see? Will the OR Engineer place the box+modem where i want it?

So long as there is reasonable access, this should not be a major issue. However do not forget that with Fibre you do not have the same constraints as you did with say an ADSL connection.

Sure the BTO Modem should ideally be close to the Master Socket, but the link between the Modem and the SR101 is an Ethernet cable.

In the same respect, your telephones can be arranged differently. If you have a DECT phone, then only one is actually connected to the phone line, but you could always run an extension.

you could also ask/tell/show the OR engineer how you want it all set up, unless you get a low standard cut corners type contract engineer instead of an OR engineer, who doesn't give 2 monkeys, and doesnt care or doesn't listen to how you want it all setup...there has beed a good few of those type of engineers around i have read & heard...if you get a proper OR engineer you should be fine...they WILL listen to how you want it all setup...
