    80mbit connection not so good

This is a discussion on 80mbit connection not so good within the Sky Broadband (Fibre) Help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I assume he means having Sky reset DLM if im still a 10mbit fibre customer in a few days? That's ...

That's done by BTO, Sky can only request that it be done, but from what I have read on the subject, DLM works better on Fibre and if the line is fixed, your speed should go up soon.

Keep an eye on the modem stats to see if the errors decrease.

That is infinity better(no pun intended) you are now showing a very high attainable rate with no errors, which should take you well up into the 70sMb range.

The modem stats still look great but we're still not there yet. 80mbit connection not so good-4ij1u.jpg
The max attainable download increased, the max attainable upload dropped.
Not really any effect but to drop my connection to 8.30mbit with a 39ms ping.
We can see it wants to show its teeth, I just wonder when.

Re: 80mbit connection not so good

DLM can take up to 4 weeks to get back up to it's normal speed after a fault is fixed but once it starts upping the sync speed it usually occurs in 3 or 4 steps over a week depending on how severe the drop was.

Re: 80mbit connection not so good

Checking the modem and speedtest again today. No power cuts affecting the modem so far.
There does appear to be an error (modem screenshot) listed. I wonder if its important or just settling in?
Hope to get my full speed and ping back soon, getting closer now.

One CRC error should not effect you much. Possibly if you reboot the modem you will have no errors showing.

Re: 80mbit connection not so good

      One crc error is nothing

My old adsl2 line was very good
and used to pull about 40 crc errors a day on fastpath

Most adsl2+ lines on fastpath will pull a few hundred atleast if not a few thousand

My VDSL2 is synced at 80000 20000 fastpath and im sure it gets one or two crc 0 errors through the day

Re: 80mbit connection not so good

Things were going quite well. Upload 17.5mbit / Download hit 67mbit (9mbit short from past). Max Attainable still: 84208 / 30224
Actual rates are about 72,000 / 20,000 my download throughput is actually 62mbit now, due to power cuts.
The power cuts tripped the breaker but the modem could have been subjected to many fast individual cuts and longer events too.

In my personal experience once the power cuts knock the modem around, the speed drops and DLM never steps in to correct the connection,
nor does it restore the connection to its original state. Surely there has to be something better, for a start how about starting at the top speed?
