Moving to an area with no Sky Fibre - what happens?

      Hi,

I signed up to Sky Fibre in around March this year. It looks like I will now be moving to an area that has no Sky Fibre. IN fact it has no Sky or BT services whatsoever, all telephony and fibre internet is provided by someone called seethelight.

Although I can move my Sky TV service there, what will happen as Sky won't be able to provide a fibre service? Will they charge me the complete contract length still or will I be able to cancel?

      Cheers

It is difficult to say. Under the circumstances they may be prepared to waive excess charges as it is not your fault the developers gave the telecom rights to a non-BT company. If you are keeping the Sky TV, that will go a way towards easing your exit.

Seethelight is a company supplying FTTH home on new housing estates. They appear to use VoIP for the telephone and it is hard to find anyone with anything good to say about them.

When putting the Fibre FAQ together we asked about this kind of things.

The advice given was that it was easier to call Sky as every case is treated individually.

Factors which can affect things include why you are moving, any offers you may have and when you will specifically be ending the contract.

From what I learnt Sky will treat things well in most cases. One downside was the pre-payment of line rental which some people do.

Yeah I pre-paid the line rental, so I guess its safe to assume there won't be any refund there :/

Cheers I will give them a call when I know specifically when I will be moving.
