is it really worth upgrading to sky fibre pro?

Plus it will probably be exactly the same Openreach engineer that will fit your Sky fibre service up as it would BT, so very little difference except cheaper monthly, prob 100 in cash/voucher incentives and oh yes free sports channels.

Cheapest for the 80/20 (76/18) service is currently, unfortunately, talktalk. They are also claiming no traffic management or fair usage policy on this service and their 12 month advance on line rental is still the cheapest available at effectively 9.50 per month.

It is an 18 month min term though so....if you want to risk their service issues then it could be the best offer.

Sky's recent news that they plan to relaunch the Be broadband name and service on the Fibre Pro tier (although this will likely be for customers without tv, only) then I am hopeful this might mean some movement on the price.

More discrimination against existing Sky customers?

A product designated as "Premium" doesn't bode well on the price front.

Re: is it really worth upgrading to sky fibre pro?

      wow! lastest update.

I rang sky using the 08442410802 number, selected to use the upgrade option, says i was put in a 3 min que time, i was answered 5 ses later, sounded as if it was an indian lady, i think it was, but it sounded like she was in a uk call centre, as i could hear men in the background, with a welshy/english accent, plus i had to shout a little down the phone so i can be heard as the lady sounded a little quiet down the line...

anyway, i ask to have my sky fibre unlimited package upgraded to sky unlimited pro...the lady said she will do a line check on my line....silence...came back 30 secs later, and she quoted "for upgrading from sky fibre unlimted to sky fibre unlimited pro, you will get a line speed of 67.4mb/s" i thought that should be a good speed for me, she said "i must quote a little about the broadband packaging tendancies, your speed will be dependent on how many users are using your exchange, your line speed maybe lower or higher depending on circumstnces to your line, and that it will currently take 2 weeks to have you upgraded to sky fibre unlimited pro" I thought 2 weeks, that is weird becasue i have seen sky user posts saying that it normally take at least 24 hours or so for the type upgrade, or am i wrong?

she quoted that my current cost of 20 a month would change to 30 a month, etc.

so, will wait to see what happens in 2 weeks time...or will it actually be less than 2 weeks?

2 weeks does sound a long time for what is v essentially a profile change in software.

Either they are quoting the.average time for a dsl to.ttc upgrade or they're covering their backside

Sent from my phone in a pub this post probably makes less sense than usual and that's saying something ;-)

You could try tonight but you won't see anything, however tomorrow morning power cycle your router (not the modem) and you should see the new speeds.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
