There was a congestion problem at my exchange once, whereby everything was fine until the 6-11pm peak period, at which point the broadband often became unusable.

As soon as sky had confirmed the cause, that postcode checker updated to show 'exchange affected'.
This only took 2 or 3 days.

With several customers on the same exchange contacting them, hopefully it'll be the same for you.

It might not even be congestion but if it is, historically sky are quick to put things right.
(At least a lot quicker than some other isp's, from what i've read.)

      Re: Nearly unusable evening speeds

Could I suggest that those of you who tried contacting Sky last nght after 9pm make an official complaint to Sky please?

Sky Fibre is advertised with 24/7/52 support.

I raised this elsewhere some time back and never got a suitable response.

      Re: Nearly unusable evening speeds

Just spoken to Sky and explained the problem and mentioned that a work colleague on sky fibre in the Bromley area is also getting the same problem. They checked and the exchange isn't on either of their lists of congested exchanges but the rep thinks that is the problem. They've passed it onto the Sky network team who should come back to me but will be tomorrow now.

It actually went back to normal about 23:30 last night, so from 2500ms ping times down 27ms..

Well it's just gone 21:00 and Sky hasn't called me - and my connection has started to slow down significantly... going to call them...

I called Sky and no one was around to support Fibre. The India call centre said that they are not open 24 hours - where did you see this advertised? Quite annoyed really.

      Re: Nearly unusable evening speeds

It was there but I can't find it at the moment. If you can check out the Sky Shop & T&Cs for Sky Fibre Broadband, you should be able to find it.

If there has been a change, I certainly haven't been notified.

      Re: Nearly unusable evening speeds

      Sorry to bump this...

I'm still getting extremely unusable speeds between 2030 and 2330. I have called Sky who inexplicably closed my original ticket but have now said that they will try and sort it out with BT Openworld. Is anyone else who contributed to this thread (BR1, BR2 Bromley area) still getting 'congestion' or mega-slow speeds? This has been going on for a couple of weeks now.

      I mean, look at this:

As for a 24 hour Fibre support line - no. It closes at 2100 on weekdays and they are looking to make it 24/7 'soon'.

I have raised this with someone to see if there is something going on and linked to this thread. I shall let you know what I can and when I can.

      Re: Nearly unusable evening speeds

Well Sky just called me back and said that this is a priority now as "over 200 people" have complained about the fibre problem on this exchange. I should get a call "towards the end of this week/beginning of next week".
