      On another note, when I queried about the engineer again, I got the same reply that they may have other jobs to go to and the connection can take up to 4 hours.
      Good, at least something is happening at last.
      I hope he sorts the issue whatever it is.

      thanks everyone. the engineer has been and fixed it. He said the cable was wired into wrong socket in the cable box outside our home thus wrong IP address. i didnt quite get it, however I am happy finally.

      yeah when openreach came to me they made me check the connection before asking if u had any more questions
