when is my fibre ready with sky

OK so, I'm really excited that my exchange (rock ferry) is due to go live in September rather than the predicted date of march next year. This info is from open reach website on the when and where section.
The question I have is that when my exchange goes live for fibre, will I then be able to place an order with sky or do sky need to fiddle around with the exchange too? Or maybe the little green box by my house needs changing too?

I'm sure this has been asked many times but I'm so excited its only 2 months away.

My exchange was upgraded 12mths ago, but my cabinet hasn't and Openreach have yesterday told me that it's not commercially viable to put FTTC to my local cabinet. Sorry to burst the bubble, but the exchange getting fibre is just the first of two steps.

Oh lol. That's pants. So does upgrading the exchange to fibre make no difference to people on normal ADSL? It is only beneficial if your cabinet is upgraded too?

That's correct. There's probably 3 steps in total, 1. Exchange is upgraded, 2. Street cabinet is set up (new fibre cabinet), 3. Sky connect their equipment at the exchange.

Depending on where you live, your cabinet could be one of the first or one of the 'not commercially viable' ones. You could try emailing openreach to get more details.
