      What's changed?

Previously when I've run checkers for fibre (BTw, plusnet, Sky) they've all said my line can support a maximum of 49Mbps/11Mbps. Today, they're all saying 36Mbps, 6Mbps?

What could have made this changed so significantly? I always use the address checker and my house hasn't moved overnight!

From what I have read elsewhere, it is thought that predicted speeds have been lowered to allow for an increased level of crosstalk where fibre takeup has been popular. Or simething like that...

      That's quite some cross talk!!!

Typical, the OR engineer has just called to say he's on his way to (hopefully) install the fibre this morning and now I'm not even sure what speed to expect!

      Re: What's changed?

My estimate has been reduced from 62 Mbps (as it was when I had fibre installed last year) to 59.1 Mbps.

Engineer has just left. Sync'ing at 40/10, so the checkers have added a deal of behind covering!

The estimate for mine has reduced from about 60mbps (as per OR eng at installation about 13 months ago) to just under 56Mbps (but throughput remains steady at just under 38Mbps)

Presumably they want to be conservative with the estimates as fibre takeup increases so as to avoid any customer disappointment arising from over-expectation!

      Re: What's changed?

I was just a little surprised that it was a difference of 13Mbps!
