      Re: Goodbye ADSL

Sorry for the delay, a few problems and I off out in a bit...

      Initial speed tests look pants:

The tests were carried out over Ethernet, so I need to investigate what is happening.

As previously mentioned, at the moment it is set to SFU but I need to contact Sky to get that corrected. I didn't want to change it prior to installation as from reading previous comments from other members it would have entailed cancelling the order and getting a new installation window.

I wanted to get speedtest running on my torrent PC, but that is playing up too. I have been able to run the speedtest app on my phone and that is showing an improvement for the upload, but the download doesn't appear to have improved.

Don't panic, I shall update later.

      Edit: Via Wifi...

I guess teething troubles are to be expected.

How far are you from the fibre cabinet connection Scubbie? My change to fibre gave an instant excellent speed test results, but when a line to the pole outside became faulty, it took an engineer intervention to reset the profile.

      Cheers

      Re: Goodbye ADSL

I'm around 300m from the cabinet so I shan't be getting the full speeds of the 80/20 product.

My predicted SFUP speeds are around 64/20. The Engineer wasn't able to confirm my actual possible connection speed.

As for performance: So far things have been good. I'm having issues with the speedtesting though. I've asked for some help on this elsewhere as I'm not sure about the cause. I have identified where a problem is, so am now waiting for a response.

The speeds have generally been consistent in the results, although the tester on this site wasn't great. I need to run some heavy downloads on my torrent PC. This should be a good test. I also need to check out the BT Tester page too.

      BT Test site results:

      d/l 30.91 Mbps
      u/l 8.42 Mbps
      Ping : 30.25

      Looks like I'm missing something

Did you get an Openreach engineer or a sub-contractor? If he didn't have a JDSU, maybe the latter.
