I am new to the site and new to forums in general so please bear with me.
i have recently installed Sky fibre unlimited and have the SR101 router that was supplied, on a wired speed test i get 34mb down and 5 up, but wireless is a dismal 2mb down & 0.5 up.
Is the answer to change the router? looking in PC world, they have an R6300 (all singing all dancing expensive) Router that they claim will improve my wireless.
Does the R6300 work with this connection?
Is there a better router?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Netgear R6300
As this is a very new Draft AC router it is unlikely you could connect it to Sky fibre. There are a few that will connect direct, but most need 3rd party firmware which will not yet be available for this router. Apart from that a great deal of the selling price is down to the AC specifications and to date there are very few adapters available which can make use of this. Those that can are horrifically expensive, £50 upwards.
Have a look through these threads for what is available for use with fibre - http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...sky-fibre.html
In the mean time try changing the channels on your router to a named channel, rather than using Auto. The best way to do this is to download and use Inssider, link below, and use this to discover the quietest channel in your area. Channel 13 is often quiet in some areas, so it might be worth a try.

Note - When downloading always select the Custom install or you will end up with stuff you don't want.
