SkyHub and Netgear WNDR3700 Setup Questions

      Let me start by apologising!

Sorry to start a thread about a subject that has probably been done to death.

I just have some queries before tackling my setup.

      1. Will my WNDR3700 work using the stock firmware, not DDWRT?

      2. Will I have full functionality, ie DLNA streaming from my external HDD?

      3. As the Dlink pdf details the setup using pictures of its GUI, is it very different to the WNDR3700 GUI? In other words will I find everything easy enough?

      4. In order to use Sky On Demand services, can I plug the ethernet cable from the Sky box into the WNDR3700 or must it go into the SkyHub?

      Many thanks.

Don't panic - many of the threads are themes on previous questions.

If you wish to connect it via the Sky Hub SR101, then it does not matter. If you wish to swap out the Sky Hub SR101 and use the Netgear WNDR3700 instead, then you will need the DD-WRT firmware.

Both firmwares support the External drive on the WNDR3700. So long as what you want to use is on the same LAN, then you should have no problems.

If you have a guest using the Sky Hub's WiFi, then they won't be able to use the external drive via DLNA if it is connected to the WNDR3700.

The GUI isn't too hard on the Netgears.

Either. Personally I would suggest that it will be better on the same LAN as your smart phone or tablet if you wish to make use of apps such as Sky+ (for iPad and iPhone) or Zeebox (Android).

Read this thread for guidance on setting it all up if you want to use both routers, with the Sky Hub acting just to verify your connection:
