      Agreed.

      I can understand committing to a contract if you had free set up on a new install for something like fibre, but I would prefer the option of paying the up front costs and having a monthly contract.

      Couldn't agree more.

      And the people who are not tech savvy may just end up trying to leave Sky because performance drops as their kit becomes outdated (which they don't realise is the cause), then they get the hump and feel unloved when they get offered free stuff the moment they try and leave.

      Very true and something which this change of policy would help to change if it ever happened.

      I realise with over 3 million Sky Broadband customers that the costs would be higher, but everyone would get a good working router periodically.
