Just run a check on my IP address using this link and find that it is contained within a block of addresses listed in the PBL. It has never caused me a problem though I do run a mail server on my network. Is is however inaccessible from the internet as I use "fetchmail" which runs hourly to collect my families mail from a number of external pop servers. It is useful for receiving reports from my NAS, router etc and I tend to use email attachments rather than shared folders for moving files around locally. All outbound mail is sent via my ISP's mailserver.

All Sky addresses will be on the list. In fact the addresses of any ISP who uses dynamic addresses will be listed.

      Re: Sky or BT?

Depending on which IP number is assigned the results vary but they are generally listed in half a dozen lists and I've never had this problem before.

Try going to BLACKLISTALERT.ORG - Email Problem ? - Test if your IP or DOMAIN is blacklisted in a spamdatabase and it should automatically show your IP number and allow you to run a check. My current IP is listed in five different lists but when I click on zen.Spamhaus.org for an explanation it shows that the IP number was registered for spam by Sky themselves, which begs the question why on earth are they then releasing these IP numbers to customers?

Sky do not allow 3rd party mail servers, this is their way of stopping them. They have not said that these addresses are spammers, but if they are used by a mail server other than Sky's they may be sending spam so should be blocked. The same applies to the others. See if you can find out the address of another ISP who uses dynamic addressing and put the address into a checker, you will get more or less the same result.

I have taken the liberty of checking the address a member with BT for their ISP, this is the result-

      Re: Sky or BT?

The result is similar but for whatever reason it has been causing me various problems for the last couple of months.

In a couple weeks I'll be with BT anyway but this has been a pain in the neck and Sky's response both from technical support and customer care has been totally useless. No doubt they have people inside the company who are technically very capable but I was never able to speak with anybody useful and kept being told the case would be escalated, so somebody would call me back in a couple of days but it never happened. The number of times the phone line was dropped was downright infuriating when you'd been waiting already for 10-15 minutes.

I presume you mean Sky don't allow you to host a mailserver on your connection rather than Sky do not allow you to use 3rd party mailservers to send mail.

      Never had any email problems.
Not long after I first picked up on this it became apparent that a number of my emails were suddenly failing to reach their destination but I only knew that because I was in direct communication with these people.

Hey don't mind me Flashman, i'm a noob using a ps3 browser, lol.

I first posed 'the blacklist question' here: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/gener...all-means.html

I was satisfied with the 2 responses & later realised that my 'failed email' was actually just an odd quirk of my browser.
