I'll leave this until tomorrow I think and then take a decision one way or another. I've been in touch with Sky via Twitter and they keep asking me the same stupid points I've already gone over for the last two months. That's why I despair with these companies because they keep you going round and round in circles.

Annoyingly Sky's support staff have to follow a crib sheet called "Sky Answers". If they fail to do this they get told off.

Many companies are the same and Sky is no worse than most others but when they have access to customer care records showing the steps you've been through but take you through it all time after time they deserve to be told off...

      Re: Sky or BT?

I agree with you in many respects.

If someone calls at say 9am about a broadband fault and is taken through all the steps, but then calls back at 10am, the 2nd person should take a look at the notes and see that the call was taken to say step 25 on the Sky Answers chart and pick up from there.

Sadly this isn't currently done and the 2nd person starts from the very beginning.

I do know that in some companies, some of the call centre staff are terrible at making notes. I don't know what the standard is like for Sky and how much this is chased up, if at all.

Your right, it could just as easily be Aayushi Dasgupta from Yorkshire

I'm in Cornwall so unless it's Denzil from Bodmin I'm in trouble either way.

      Re: Sky or BT?

I just signed up for the BT infinity2 option with unlimited calls and the YouView box. That costs 36.15 a month in total. Line rental is a once yearly charge of 129 and I had to pay a 49 activation fee for YouView. I tried to place the order online but it was telling me I'd lose my phone number, so I ended up ordering over the phone. This took ages, however they assure me I'll get to keep my number. A pity I don't get the 50 Sainsbury voucher like this.

BT originally advised me to get a MAC code from Sky, however Sky say they can't do that, so it looks like the games have already begun... BT are still atrocious to deal with on the phone and I'm joining them with extreme reluctance but Sky's messing about over the last 2 months with the IP numbers has exhausted my patience.

When I placed the order with BT it was Denzil from Bodmin, but when I called back later it was James in Delhi.

      Re: Sky or BT?

The phone and broadband side should automatically be migrated from Sky to BT but does anybody know the best method of cancelling the Sky TV packages? Our next bill is due on the 19th and I'd like to keep the TV up to at least near that date because we've already paid for it. BT should be installing everything on the 15th.

Well you have to give Sky at least 31 days notice I believe so doing it now would be the right thing to do.

      Re: Sky or BT?

When I asked them about this once before they said I'd get billed once more but should get a refund for whatever portion of the following month isn't used. I just wonder how likely I'd be to see that 20 days worth back in the bank account though.
