      upload speed

Hi I've had sky unlimited ADSL broadband since September. Yesterday my cab went live so I ordered the fibre upgrade. I'm sure the sky salesman said I was getting 2mb up. is this still the case? is everybody on 10mb?

      Re: upload speed

With SFU the initial upload speed was set at 2mb. A few months later Sky increased this to 10mb.

There have been some BTO Engineers who have continued to set it at 2mb and Sky has had to take measures to correct this.

The fact that you already have 10mb is a good sign as this is the correct speed.

I think what happens is that the product is installed as 40/2 and shortly afterwards Sky run a script to upgrade it to 40/10. At least that's how it was being done! I think it is/was something to do with the arrangement between OR & Sky still being based on SFU as a 40/2 product with provision for subsequent update? Sounds mad (but maybe I dreamed it all anyway )

I'd be very surprised if the engineer had anything to do with it, port configuration will be done centrally and it's extremely likely to be by a automated robot that does it based on the details it's passed via the ordering system.

The openreach engineer will pretty much get instructions that give him a the mappings to a pair of termination points on the connecting block in the cab (one for voice in from the exchange, one for Voice + VDSL out from the MSAN in the cab)
