Sky fibre pro -why isn't it mentioned on the Sky website?

This is a discussion on Sky fibre pro -why isn't it mentioned on the Sky website? within the Sky Broadband (Fibre) Help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; It is nowhere to be found on the Sky site. Why are they not making it easy to order?...

You have to order over the telephone iirc

Whilst it isn't pushed well, there is a mention of it in the shop section. Scroll to just over halfway down in the page is this link:

Sky Fibre Unlimited - Unlimited fibre optic broadband from Sky

      Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro

If you have even higher internet demands, you should try Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro. It costs 30 a month with Sky Talk Weekends and Sky Line Rental (14.50 a month), and is available to Sky Broadband customers in selected Sky Fibre areas.

Simply call 08442 410 602 to check availability and speed.

Calls to Sky are inclusive for Sky Talk Freetime, Weekends and Anytime (formerly Unlimited) customers and cost 5.1p per minute (plus 13.1p connection fee) for BT customers. Calls from other providers may vary.

      Thanks.
They are not putting any effort into selling it though. I wonder why.

This is true and I can only imagine that the pricing structure which Sky set up at the launch of their Fibre products.

BT Retail launched their free upgrade to the 80/20 product just days before Sky launched their Fibre product.

I would hope that Sky will reconsider their current FTTC product range and scrap the 40/10 based product and reduce the SFP price to 20 soon, but this might be nearer April, if at all.

BTW have also launch FTTP products which Sky have not yet launched as a product base for their customers. There are many possible reasons for this but I would hope that Sky are looking to move into this side of things. Whilst the initial costs of FTTP are very large, in the long term I believe that anyone who wants a good broadband package will be buying it.

I'm beginning to think that they're holding back from a big marketing effort on fibre services (both standard and pro) until they've fully got to grips with integrating the FTTC product into their sales and support operations.

There are a number of potential & existing fibre customers who are unhappy for various reasons - e.g. the trepidation of whether or not Openreach will turn up, the difficulties that there seem to be with communication between Sky & Openreach (and consequently the customer), the long delays to get a re-appointment when things have gone wrong on that front, the mysterious "half-speed" issue which seems to be ongoing for some customers following connection.

Perhaps a single pro user being able to use as much capacity on the back-haul links as 2 SFU users.

I'd love to see how the back haul links are sized and the contention ratios work out because lets face it would potentially take only ~15 people on Pro deciding to download something (assuming wherever they're downloading from can max their line) to saturate a gigabit link.

Maybe Sky are starting to see the impact of "truly unlimited" on their backhaul by fibre product users in some locations?

It's possible, If my rough calculations are correct then Someone with an 80Mbit/s sync could download in the region of 23TB a month downstream if they were able to max their line 24x7
