This is also now showing as an announcement on the Sky Help Forum pages.

The Sky Service Status page (Sky Service Status) is also showing a Live Issue entitled
"Fibre Upgrade Issues Affecting Sky Hubs":

"If you are experiencing issues connecting to the internet on Fibre and have a Sky Hub, please reset your Hub to resolve this issue."

So are they upgrading the network or the firmware on the Hubs,

It seems interesting that they're specifically singling out people who use the Hub (That isn't a hub)

Definitely says network maybe the hub is bad at stale sessions or similar?

Re: Sky Upgrading Fibre Network Over Next Few Days

A more detailed explanation of whats going on would be nice, But then again I don't really expect we'll see one.

There are ISP's that would give much better details when it comes to Network issues/Maintenance but then again they tend to cost a lot more than Sky do.

Whist we often complain about the customer service and the time it takes big companies like Sky to fix problems at the end of the day Skys broadband is a pretty decent service (most of the time) for the peanuts it costs.

It really is Peanuts as well and I'd suggest anyone who thinks 30/mo for a 80/20 un-throttled connection is expensive go look at the actual costs of bandwidth.

No idea how much cheaper LLU is but take this comment from Adrian Kennard (AAISP) when talking about BT's FTTP @ 330Mbit/s

I know - crazy isn't it. This is one customer as a trail and they know there will be times when there is not going to be 330Mb/s spare capacity. To allow that spare capacity would cost us (in BT costs alone) 16,000 a month.

Getting a detailed reason is not likely as you already alluded to

I assume they mean sky router by the phrase 'hub'? And not the BTO Modem?

I would think so. My personal policy is to never reboot the BTO modem (and I have never done so since fibre install on 27 April - it's only ever been off during power cuts) over which I have no control).

Re: Sky Upgrading Fibre Network Over Next Few Days

      Hi All
Well it looks like the "upgrade" has resulted in a downgrade" for me.!!!!
After being a "halfspeeder" from install in June the last 4 to 6 weeks have seen me getting consistent download speeds of 37 which i have been more than happy with. However from this morning i am back to speeds of 24/27. My ping which has consistently been 10 /15 for months has now decided to double to between 25/30.
The router before a reboot showed a sync speed of 39992/9996 and the same after a reboot, meaning that the modem is still outputting the same connection speeds. All other details ip address etc etc are also exactly the same. Has any one else seen similar changes overnight ??????????????
Can not see how DLM will sort this one out if the Modem is putting out basically a 40 / 10 connection.
      Another interesting bit of info is that the BT fibre speed checker STILL shows a download speed of 37.5 for the connection which is basicly what it has alway done.It was just in the last 4 to 6 weeks that these results from the BT site "matched up" with Speedtest .net figures. { Actual file download speed times have also increased by about 30/35 %.}
