      Increased ping times

I noticed yesterday my ping increased by 7-8ms across the board from 9:45am onwards. My first thought was interleaving had switched on, but I checked on my hacked modem and its still off (D=1 and all the delays at 0.00). Anyone else noticed a ping increase to bbc.co.uk?

      Re: Increased ping times

If anything my pings are better by about 5ms from when I first checked. From my Mac I'm getting:

      64 bytes from 212.58.241.131: icmp_seq=0 ttl=246 time=25.100 ms
      64 bytes from 212.58.241.131: icmp_seq=1 ttl=246 time=26.100 ms
      64 bytes from 212.58.241.131: icmp_seq=2 ttl=246 time=26.550 ms
      64 bytes from 212.58.241.131: icmp_seq=3 ttl=246 time=27.003 ms
      64 bytes from 212.58.241.131: icmp_seq=4 ttl=246 time=26.832 ms

Could you also post your pings for comparision.

*on ADSL, didn't see the users information, sorry.

Not on Fibre myself, but wasn't there a period yesterday when a lot of fibre connections went down? This may have something to do with it.

Could be as they reported the connections coming back up around the time the ping increased. So I guess they might have changed something in the core network to get around the problem. I just hope if that's the case, they get faulty hardware replaced and switch back to how it was before.

Something has changed - I've noticed that the lease renewal period has decreased from approx every 30 mins to approx every 5 mins since the fibre outage yesterday.

      Re: Increased ping times

Odd one this. I dropped to a 24ms ping months ago and it's never changed in all that time. Today after reading this thread, checked my pings, and they have decreased to 20ms. No change in my download or upload speed so not sure what's going on.
