Obviously whatever Sky are doing isn't working well at the moment.

I did some speed tests on my own connection the other day and the ping times were around 31ms, so I can only guess that they will fix it.

That's assuming they even consider it to be broken in the first place, whilst FTTC can provide lower pings what people seem to be forgetting is this is a Residential service with no SLA's so there's nothing in the contract that states they have to meet specific latency targets.

It would be interesting to see at what point sky would consider the latency to be a problem but I have a feeling 30ms will be considered more than acceptable, interleaved lines are probably close to that if not higher anyway.

      Re: Increased ping times

My pings have now gone up to 29-31ms. So it seems some people are getting an improvement, others a decline.
I have spoken to Sky on a couple of occasions, apart from the maintainance, they know as much or as little as I do.

Are you sure thats not interleaving kicking in? Going by your speedtest you are not getting 40/10 so any noise on the line could cause problems due to your low snr. The only way to know is to unlock your modem if you have the huawei.

My modem is unlocked so I know the ping increase which I still have was caused by a change at skys end.

      Re: Increased ping times

      Cheers for the reply Hopester,
I get approx 37-38Mb down when I use the BT(beta) and JD speedtester they dont give me the option of an avatar though.
I have the ECI modem unfortunately, (ECI cabinet) and I cant be bothered messing about with pegs and usb leads.
