      XBOX Live Port Forwarding

I had Sky Fibre installed last week, receiving the new Sky SR101 Hub.
My son's XBOX 360 has a fixed IP address in the range 192.168.0.xxx He is connected to the SR101 by wireless.
He is experiencing problems and when I did a network test, though he can connect OK, the XBOX reports that NAT is set to moderate.

UPNP is set to on. However, nothing is listed in the UPNP table.

I have opened the inbound ports specified on the XBOX website, directing them to the XBOX's IP address.

To no avail. Still getting the NAT moderate message.

      Can anyone help?

Just in case it is a WiFi issue, could I ask that you try connecting it via an Ethernet cable and see what you get please?

Also could you post you connection figures and what you get when you ping the BBC website?

I'm sure you have but just check you have the proper ports forwarded as well. On my crappy 2504n (I am still annoyed they shipped this device seeing as I only had fibre installed three weeks ago) I have 88, 3074, DNS and HTTP forwarded to my sons xbox which has a 192.168.0.4 fixed IP address.

You could be daring and put the xbox as the defualt DMZ server!!!! I wouldn't like.

Nothing much daring about it, many connect their consoles through the DMZ server.

I rather do it the 'proper' way. I'll only resort to DMZ if I can't get forwarding to work.

I've done lots of port forwarding on other routers, without problem. I need to check my settings and check whether a cabled connection makes any difference.

      Re: XBOX Live Port Forwarding

Turn UPnP off, chances are its badly implemented (was on the old Sky routers, is on my O2 router).

Then just forward the ports you require. Jobs a good en.

2 xboxs is a real issue with 90% of routers though. Unless this new Sky router is any better that is.

      Re: XBOX Live Port Forwarding

When I asked about the Xboxes and the Sky Hub SR101 I was informed that they had tested it with 5 games machines (mixture of Xboxes and PS3s) connected at the same time. The router worked just fine and they were all able to play without any significant issues.

Just what level the connection was for each wasn't in the response.

      Re: XBOX Live Port Forwarding

Xbox Live needs the following ports to be forwarded

      UDP 53, TCP 53, UDP 88, UDP 3074 & TCP 3074

I wrote a guide sometime ago, it has been updated for the sagem router. I dont have a SR101, so cant update it for that but it may still help.

      Re: XBOX Live Port Forwarding

With those port numbers and the guide linked below, it should be able to set up the port forwarding:

Port forwarding - Setting up Port forwarding (use existing & set up custom services)

However this would be an issue with multiple Xboxes. UPnP would be better were two or more Xboxes are on the same router.
