I think if I had the money, I would upgrade to an Apple Airport Extreame. We have 4 x iPhones and an IPad in this house, so the dual frequency would help the wifi reception.

If only Sky supplied a half decent dual band router, I don't think you would have have 3/4 of the complaints you have on this forum!

300mbps on the 2.4GHz and also one the 5GHz would be very welcome by quite a few members.

Many new mobiles (Android and Apple) support the 5GHz channels, but most will only work at up to 65mbps.

      Re: New Sky Router

Having just received my new router ahead of my Fibre install I can say that the aesthetics of the product are great. The bevel SKY doesn't really bother me and it is considerably shorter than my DG934G, and it's not very heavy either compared to some reports I've read.. The packaging explicitly says to not connect it until Fibre is activated, so I'm going to do just that. At least the old man won't be complaining about flashing lights when he is watching TV haha.

I'm quite impressed with the packaging as well, almost on par with that of Apple.

I would have been tempted, but no gigabit? Come on Sky, this is late 2012!! I might just grab a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND instead, same price!

I connected mine before installation with no problems.

      Re: New Sky Router

I can confirm its got a good wireless signal, much better than my 02 router. It also seems to have control over UPnP expiry times as well which is a good thing for sure.

Other than that, not really played around with it yet. Fibre only went live on Thursday.

      Re: New Sky Router

Fibre install on Friday (fingers crossed) but no router yet! It says 'dispatching soon' on order tracking. Can anyone tell me if you get an e-mail from Sky to say its been sent and which company delivers it?

Others have found that they received the router 2 or 3 days prior to installation.

It is normally handled by either Royal Mail (2nd Class Tracker) or Parcel Post (Tracker).

Check your My Sky page tomorrow. If it isn't there, give Sky a friendly call to chase it up.
