      Aditional cabinet activation

How often do Openreach extend their already fibre enabled areas? There's only 1 cabinet being enabled for my street and according to the cabinet schedule, it's supplying 18%. Looking around my area, it seems it's the same sort of thing, maybe 1 out of every 3-4 being enabled.

Do the remaining cabinets usually stay this way until another phase or are they just done whenever the planning is accepted?

      Re: Aditional cabinet activation

If the Green Street Cabinet to which you are connected to does not currently support FTTC then it is a waiting game I'm afraid.

BTO tends to install enough fibre cabinets to cover about 1/3rd of the local area before the exchange goes live. They then gradually install further cabinets later.

In many areas planning permission isn't required but in some cases it is. The permission typically takes a few months and isn't often refused.

They have messed up in some places though. BTO has installed the new fibre cabinets on private land and have later had to remove them.
