Modems don't usually have firewalls, this is one of the functions of a router. Who told you yours had a firewall?

      Thanks for the reply

It's the echolite hg612 which I believe is a modem / router. Am I mistaken?

      Thanks

it can be used as a modem, but it is basically in bridge mode so all the modem options are turned off and as such no firewall

No, but as supplied by BTO it is set to a Modem Only mode, which means the firewall, DHCP etc are provided by the Sky router.

      Re: Fttc firewall question

Thanks for clearing that up. Might need to ring sky as the router says the router sync is 3999 down and 1999 up, but any speed test I do says I'm only getting 18 - 20 meg.

      So need to sort that

      Thanks

Do you mean 39999 and 1999?

Are you using wireless when you do these speed tests. If so use wired instead

It could be the infamous half speed issue. Just in case turn your router off for more than 30 mins so that the current lease has defintely expired. When it's switched back on it should have a new IP address, hopefully a 94 one.

It will also make sure the router picks up the current sync speed because it only gets updated when the router boots up.

Fixed it by using my billion 7800N although upload is capped at 2meg by bt for a week.

My ewan light on the billion is yellow should it not be green?

      Cheers
