The BTO engineer will fit a data extension cable, but if you have one in place terminating at the master socket, he probably wont mind fitting a plug to it.

Alternately you might want to consider fitting a fixed socket, which may be more flexible for your needs -

just tried to wire as the plug has wiring diagrams and nothing think I'll leave it to them as I'm sure they've done it often enough, wires going into it don't seem to have been cut to expose the copper.

This is correct for crimp connectors. The crimping tool forces the contact to pierce the outer plastic sheath into the inner copper wire.

If you happen to have a Digital Volt Meter (DVM) you could double check the connector by doing a continuity test.

For some information on the connectors, crimping tool and guide, see this post:

      Re: Ordered Fibre Today

I'm afraid that the only other suggestion then would be to ask someone locally to do it for you. Sadly I'm a 2+ hour drive from you.

Aww thanks Scubbie wish you were closer but TBH I was just testing as I wouldn't want to put it in then find the BTO states somewhere else also I have read on Sky's forum that one person had an extension socket changed to the new fibre plate so you never know, hope not though as put in the cat 5.
