Re: How soon after Exchange is Fibre enabled can I order?

I was informed that there are no current plans for Sky Fibre at the Balgownie exchange. I then contacted BT and was able to place an order for BT Infinity with an install date of the 11th October.
It is possible your exchange is still on the old Sky(Easynet) equipment which is not compatible with Fibre. Do a tracert to bbc.co.uk and if the first hop is to Easynet equipment in your exchange, that will be the reason you can't get Sky fibre.

      Hi Supersneak,

Can you give me your postcode / street address?

I have been put on BT Broadband Option 1 until 10th October.

Looks like another call to them is needed

      Hi Gkay09

Sent a PM with the postcode - I completed the order online after confirming availability and was offered an install on the 11th. The order has been confirmed by BT, but I will update if any problems. Disappointed to be leaving Sky broadband, but they have to keep customers informed.

      1st hop is to bb.sky.com

Thanks for that I got it. Your second box must have been enabled as mine is still showing as unavailable unfortunately. Ok I will be interested to see how it all goes for you. They told me tonight there is still no confirmed date for my postcode to go live but did confirm it had slipped from the 1st October. I put another postcode in that is right next to where the main exchange is and it isn't even accepting orders so you obviously live in the lucky part of B.O.D lol

      Hi Gkay09

At least you know it is going to happen, hopefully sooner rather than later. I'll let you know how it goes.

Then it is another case of a messed up ordering process between Sky and BTO.

WTF??? Fibre enabled date was 30 Sept up until today, now it's saying December?

Another example of BT bring lazy, oxygen thieves again?

Re: How soon after Exchange is Fibre enabled can I order?

Unfortunately there are many reasons for delays. Take a look at the recent weather problems in some parts of the country. Someone needs to repair the telephone network in York, for example.

What is more likely with your exchange pekingprawn is that it is almost ready, but that they couldn't make the September 30th deadline. The date has therefore been moved to the next quarterly date.

BTO could activate the Fibre network in your exchange at any date before the end of the year and you would be able order Sky Fibre soon after that hopefully. Just be a little patient.

Re: How soon after Exchange is Fibre enabled can I order?

I just spoke with BT tonight and they confirmed the date has slipped to the 31st December as there are a lot of lines that aren't actually ready for the Fibre Broadband even if the cabinet itself is ready for the Fibre.

I am personally raging with BT as I had a conversation with BT just 3 days ago and I was told that I could order Fibre Optic broadband as of the 1st October!

I think something needs to be done about all BT's lies and unfounded promises!

Express your rage appropriately then and ditch bt infrastructure and go with an alternative. It's the only way they will take notice.
