It gets worse. In order for Sky to be able to bring the installation forward, "I!" have to contact BT for them to supply me with written permission to bring my install date forward??!!

"Further to our telephone conversations this morning, should you obtain written permission from BT with regard to Sky bringing your activation date forward, I would be grateful if you could email me directly with the details.
This will enable us to progress matters for you.
      "

They even suggested i contact the Chief Exec of BT to get this.

I literally cannot believe my ears, i can't help wondering if it's even worth the hassle.

you should add another choice in the poll...something like "i missed the BTO guy once/knocking on my door, but 2nd time it was a success!"

Changed the first option to accomodate the odd misgiving.

I ordered Sky Fibre and it was a success / eventually

Re: Install of Sky Fibre, successful or a complete failure?

My cab finally got fitted and switched on so i placed an order on 24th August and joined the fast lane today with free activation too

Really friendly BTO guy rang me first thing to say he had picked up the job to convert my sky line and would be with me shortly, he blanked off my existing master by the front door and ran some cat5 thru the wall into living room and fitted a new master behind the TV with the modem on wall above it, everything seems to be great so far with a 2.5GB BF3 update completed in 10 mins and topping out at 4.6MB/s

I only went for the 40/10 atm as i wasent able to convince the mrs to let me have pro but after the BTO guy said my line would handle over 100Mb i will be resuming the presure on mrs to upgrade to pro at some point

      very very happy so far

Re: Install of Sky Fibre, successful or a complete failure?

I ordered mine as soon as Sky sent me an email telling that fibre was available in my village. Yep it really is a village in the wild wild depths of Yorkshire. Install happened on the due day and so far it's been great. I have had it for 7 days so I assume it's still DLMing but, so far, it hasn't put a foot wrong.

I ordered mine on the 20th August, got install date of the 11th Sept, Router turned up 7th sept. My install time was between 13.00 & 18.00, got call from engineer at 9.30am saying he was at the end of my street could he come and install mine now. Gone by 11am working great with speeds of 37mb Download and 8MB upload.

Re: Install of Sky Fibre, successful or a complete failure?

After almost a decade of being without any meaningful broadband our village became fibre enabled in June. My first order with Sky mid june was delayed as their system "cancelled" the order.

So after another 2 week delay (4 weeks in total) BTO came out and installed the modem etc which showed as expected 39 down and 9.9 up - which was fantastic!

Unfortunately it became obvious almost straight away that I am one of the few that seems to be affected by the 1/2 speed throughput issue so even though the router etc state 39 I only ever see 19-20 down.

I've been promised by Sky fibre that the solution has been found and will be rolled out in 3-4 weeks.

So I'll wait until then before I vote if you don't mind ;-)
