Fibre install on Friday, IP address question

I am having fibre installed on Friday morning.

I understand that the modem has an ip address of 192.168.1.1???

I have always used my own router with sky and am going to use my Billion 7800n router with fibre.
I don't use DHCP and allocate ip addresses to anything on my network. I currently use the ip address 192.168.1.1 for my router which is obviously the same as the modem that will be installed.
Am I going to have to change that to avoid a conflict or will it be ok to leave it at that?

I hope I don't have to make changes to everything on my network.

Re: Fibre install on Friday, IP address question

By default the modem is set to "Bridge mode" so you can use the same IP address, it's only if you unlock the firmware & use the 2nd LAN port it becomes an issue.

The standard BT Homehub uses 192.168.1.1 for it's IP address, I don't see any reason why you can't use the same IP

How long is the BT engineer visit likely to be?

It will just be replacing the face plate and plugging in the modem and any tests he does, I suppose.

      Nothing complicated at my location.

      I thought it was 192.168.1.254 ?

Or have they changed the default on the latest ones?

It was. I have just changed one so a friend can use it to extend his wireless network. The version 3 could be different, but I don't see why they would change it.
