Fair point though, if you are certain that BT will not charge you more for your line rental then it doesn't seem a bad deal and overall the faster speed package is cheaper on BT. However I do think that you should double check on it as you will be stuck for 18 months otherwise. Also BTs line rental is going up next year (thinkbroadband :: BT line rental to rise above 15 from January 2013).
Yes and infinity is also going up.....option 1 to 22.20 and option 2 to 28.35

Hmmm ... My current 2.8mbps is beginning to look much more interesting than it did before. It's not as if I'm doing a great deal of downloads ...

Having read through this and a bunch of other threads like this online, I'm surprised to see so many people saying they've wangled free installation for the Fibre product. I couldn't get it no matter how hard I tried yesterday, even an email to executive support got a fob off reply lol.

It's the only thing putting me off.

Re: Just ordered Sky Fibre, well, I tried!

Just getting back to my original post, a Sky Sagem arrived today which I am happy with as I have decided I really want to use my own router and I don't think anyone has cracked the new hub yet.

Probably going to go with the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND as it seems well regarded and a fair price and I can add a USB drive for central storage until I get a decent NAS. So do I need to install dd-wrt to get it working with Sky Fibre, or do I only need that for more advanced functions?

It's worth pointing out that while I am happy following guides and changing the software I'm not an advanced user in any way, so most of the wording is gibberish to me!

you only need to install DD-WRT if you want to use the TP Link instead of the Sagem router. If you are going to hang the TP off the back of the Sagem then no, standard firmware will suffice

      How is Brookwood today?

I have family living there and in Bisley.

In fact, I lived in Bisley twice!

I am actually in Bisley, not far from the pub and Post Office, so everything I need!

As you know Brookwood is where the exchange that serves us is located plus the engineers are based there, so if they don't turn up I'll pop down and let them know I'm not happy!

Ah, the old Hen & Chicks!

One of my relatives runs the residential home for the elderly across the road from the pub, close to the millenium clock.

Oh yes, I know the one.

Getting ready for my install visit, meet the router twins, ADSL on the right, Fibre on the left, ready to swap...
