      new router advice

      hi folks i recently upgraded to sky fibre broadband last month i was issued with a sagem router which to be honest is a piece of crap lol i thought my fibre broadband was on the blink turned out it was the router mucking about i had to reset to factory settings. i was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent router to buy? ive been looking at a netgear wnr2000v2 n300.

      In addition the Billion 7800 and I think the 8200 has specific fibre software to work. The TP link is only 45 so seems quite alot cheaper than the Billion although I am not sure if the Billion ones actually replace the modem as well.

      Anyway if you have a search there are loads of threads on this to keep you up before bed

      Basically most Cable routers can be used now.

      Decide what you are looking to do with the router in respect of LAN & WiFi speed, parental controls, etc. and decide whether you want to use the firmware supplied by the manufacturer or the DD-WRT firmware.

      In the case of the Billionw 7800N you do not need the DD-WRT firmware to replace the Sky router. With all the other Cable routers you would need something like the DD-WRT firmware to replace the Sky router or you can use the Sky router between your own cable router and the BTO Modem.

      Billion would be a good choice......just purchased one ....and they have the firmware for sky..beta but still works
