Got my firmware update sometime early hours of this morning judging by the router info. Re synced same as always since day one{ apart from the "free" upload increase} at 39992 / 9996. Was interested to see what difference, if any, it may have made to my "half speed" problem. First few tests on speedtest .net gave me the best results ever of up to 37 down !!!! Great i thought a fix ! HOWEVER since then the results have been VERY erratic with sometimes speeds of up to 35/36 then others down as low as 12/13. The BT wholesale test site which ALWAYS gave the highest figures also has gone up to 36/37 BUT like the speedtest site also shows as low as 20/21 as well. Tried downloading some test file and these are still coming down at about 2.0 to 2.2 ish. before the firmware update these were showing at about 1.7 / 1.9 .
Do not know what to make of it all . Has anybody got an "official" slant on what the firmware update was actually about?
Have somebody from the Sky Technical team from slough coming to see me next week to try and get to the bottom of it all so will wait till then to see what he has to say regarding the problem.

      Re: New Firmware?

Got mine some time about 3.45 this morning too. I've just run various speed tests from several different sites and also noticed an improvement in my speeds. Speedtest.net is showing around 26Mbps, which is as good as I've ever got there from my desktop, bearing in mind it goes through a Powerline adaptor. BT Speedtester has also always been the best speed results for me and is showing around 36Mbps, which is significantly better than previously (Used to be around 29-30Mbps). It annoys me that I don't get my 40Mbps or even close on most sites but I do actually believe that is partly the fault of my setup here. However, on initial inspection my speeds do seem to have improved with this firmware update.

My big question remains though, has this sorted the wireless talking to the wired networks issue? I will test it myself later but wondered if anyone had already tested to see if this firmware fixes this issue?

      System Details
      Manufacturer Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2504n
      Firmware Version 6.14.1a4N_UNI
      Modem
      Modem Status Connected
      DownStream Connection Speed 38678 kbps

      New firmware for me

I did doubt though that a firmware in the sky router would effect the speed??? Its the BT Modem that sync the net ?? Yes / No?

      Re: New Firmware?

Well I can happily report that I have re-enabled wireless on my Sky fibre router with the new firmware and my wireless laptop can now talk to my wired network. RE-sult! Thanks Sky, although I suspect that I have simply been lucky that I have only just become aware of the issue, others I've read on here have been suffering for much longer than me.

The new firmware seems to have improved the naming of my attached devices.
Now it recognises my ps3,wii and phone which it didn't before, it used to say unknown for everything apart from my pc.
Still doesn't name my sky hd box.

      Re: New Firmware?

Surprised they left the _UNI postfix on the version number. I've had it for a few weeks now after complaining everyday about the wired/wirelss issue to Sky (Kept getting the 'we will get back to you in 24hours' but they never did) and assumed the _UNI was a postfix to identify it as a beta firmware rather than a release.

No response from Sky to a request for a release note in this new firmware version.

I had interpreted the _UNI suffix as meaning UNIVERSAL for both ADSL and Fibre, which would make sense to save having to send a new 2504n (Fibre) router when customer upgrades from ADSL to Fibre.

      Re: New Firmware?

      I haven't had the update however not on fibre. Looks like either;

      1) This is for the fibre customers only, or
      2) Sky are pushing it out to those on Fibre first
