      Fibre Pro vs Infinity 2

      I'm torn between Fibre Pro and Infinity 2.

      Is Sky's Fibre Pro really worth nearly 200 more over the 18 month Infinity 2 contract?

      For about the same money as Sky's Fibre (40/2) I could have BT Infinity 2 (80/20) offering a lot more speed.

      BT also seem to offer a free line installation if needed. Both products seem to have their issues over speed & installation but BT have traffic shaping for torrents and the longer contract.

      BT Infinity 2
      Activation = 0
      3 months at 20 = 60
      15 months at 26 = 390
      Sainburys gift card = 50
      Total cost = 400

      Sky Fibre Pro
      Activation = 50
      18 months at 30 = 540
      Total cost = 590

      Sky Fibre
      Activation = 50
      18 months at 20 = 360
      Total cost = 410

      Re: Fibre Pro vs Infinity 2

      tbh

      You could look at it like this...

      BT Infinity 2
      Activation = 0
      3 months at 20 = 60
      15 months at 26 = 390
      Sainburys gift card = 50
      Total cost = 400

      Sky Fibre Pro
      Activation = 50
      12 months at 30 = 360
      Total cost = 410

      Sky Fibre
      Activation = 50
      12 months at 20 = 240
      Total cost = 290

      Then if unhappy move to BT in 12 months time?

      Youre comparing the cost of BT over 18 months to the cost of Sky over 12 months. Hardly a reasonable comparison.

      I know, that is why I said change from Sky in 12 months if unhappy.

      Chances are prices will have come down by then anyway. With BT you would still have 6 months to go before you could change.

      PS - Pretty sure you could get a deal on the activation, if you ring for a MAC (if on Sky) and say you are going to BT

      They'd have to come down by 190 over the next 6 months to make it work on a financial basis i.e. down by 31 per month - I don't think Sky or BT are going to start paying you to use fibre

      Then it comes down to if you want to download torrents and commit to an 18 month contract then I guess.

      I cannot comment on the quality of the Sky Fibre product as I am unable to get it. If I could, I would go for the 20 product anyway, as 26 (BT) or 30 (Sky) is just too pricey for me, in the sense of I wouldn't really use it to justify.

      Over 18 months Sky's Fibre (40/2) "20" product is 22.78 per month (factoring in the installation cost) and BT's Infinity 2 (80/20) is 22.22 - so you could have faster speeds for less cost

      BT could be 12.50 (same as I pay now) and I still wouldn't take it.

      But when you price it up like that, it does look attractive to people I guess.

      Re: Fibre Pro vs Infinity 2

      Yes I've been with Sky broadband/TV for almost 6 years and love it but I'm starting to feel a little neglected - no fibre/installation discounts for existing broadband/tv customers etc. So BT's sweet talk may seduce me ...
