Re: Are you Caning Your Sky Fibre Connection?

I'm giving it some stick with Netflix HD movies and programs ( American Netflix..... shhhhh Don't tell ) Some big torrents here and there. Lot's of stuff off of Anytime+, PS3 updates and demo's, Android updates, a bit of Youtube and BBC iplayer.

I'm also waiting to see what Sky's new online TV service is like, NOW TV.

If it has good content and is well priced I might even consider scrapping my Sky TV service and just watch most of my TV online.
      With sky since 1997.

Not downloading much tbh, as has been mentioned already, for me, it's the convenience of being able to get what you want quickly when you want it!

Ditto. Our usage is about the same as it ever was. But oh the joy of now being able to spontaneously rent a movie download - instead of having to start it going an hour or so (maybe even the day before) before you want to start watching, so that you can watch it without the risk of buffering!

I've downloaded quite a lot of large files around 6 GB each. What used to take hours now only takes half an hour or so

Re: Are you Caning Your Sky Fibre Connection?

Personally I found the novelty of downloading large files wore off fairly quickly. I find the "super" fast connections are more of an enabler these days for example I can do so much more online.. e.g. video chatting with far flung relatives, VOIP, web radio, HD video streaming (both directions), online gaming etc... all of which I was able to previously but now they no longer impact each other as theirs sufficient bandwidth.

Although not on Sky, last month I downloaded 6.8TB & uploaded 4.24TB online backup & restore of a failed NAS - nothing dodgy, just really lucky timing (HDD failed a day after I finished the initial backup)

A normal month would be 300GB max

Re: Are you Caning Your Sky Fibre Connection?

Anyone with a fast connection use Astraweb or any other Usenet services?

I'm getting Fibre next week, and want to know if Astraweb will max 80mbps easily, although they only estimate me to get 58.5mbps.

      Thanks.
