Sky Fibre Unlimited - Inconsistent speeds since install

      Hi,

I hope someone can help me.

I had sky fibre installed last week. Under my previous sky broadband package I was achieving a consistent and reliable 14-16 mb download speed. Since upgrading to fibre I have been receiving a whole range of speeds, as low as 12 mb and as high as 39 mb. Sky advised me I should get up to the 40 mb max. After a few sky router resets I am consistently receiving downstream router stats of 39992 kbps.

My ping test are also ranging from 7ms over the last few days up to 120ms tonight.

The install was straightforward, and my set-up (PC, router, cabling) is pretty much the same.

I would just like to understand why this is happening, and whether I can expect things to settle down over the next few weeks.

One other odd thing I've also noticed when running some tests via speedtest.net, it is locating me in the north of England, when I live in Hertfordshire (just north of London).

      Thanks in advance.

Mine was the same for the first 2 weeks after install too. I made a post here about it because I was in the same boat. I kept poking about trying to change wireless channels & restarting the router & modem every day trying to figure out what was wrong. After I left things alone for a few days, my speed is got high & consistent.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling I was being too impatient!

Re: Sky Fibre Unlimited - Inconsistent speeds since install

I get slower speeds in the evening than I do in the day. Right now I get the full fat 7.2MB/s download rate. In the evening I'll get 700KB/s - that's half the speed of my old ADSL package.

I went to Pro on Friday, so I'm going to leave it for a week before I start moaning...
