      Why are HTTP downloads only going at 700KB/s

      No matter what device I am trying this from, this evening I only seem to be getting 700KB/s.

      Steam is going around 3MB/s

      Usenet (albeit with 50 connections) is running at the full 7.3MB/s

      I've tried Microsoft (700KB), Heanet (700KB)

      BT Speedtest = 40mbit
      Sync = 65000 :|

      Even my beloved sourceforge is slow.

      What gives??

      Obviously have dropped router/modem.

      Speedtest.bbmax = 27000kbit.
      speedtest.net = 24000

      I do hope I haven't got this dreaded "half speed thing" - but i'm getting 7.3MB/s on usenet.. this is what puzzles me. Almost as if Sky router is throttling individual connections??

      Oh dear.

      Also, should it take an absolute age for me to get into the Sky Router menus??

      something is throttling individual connection, to the half speed guy, but where that is happening is the big question.

      this speedtest will max out each connection (4), pretty much like usenet

      *btw my measly 40mb is running smooth as usual... not had an issue since day 1

      It is a strange one, before this afternoon speed has been fine....

      That speedtest gives me 46Mb and 17Mb up. Though I tried it a bit earlier and i'm sure it was slower.

      I suspect a temporary Sky glitch

      Sync definitely 64000

      bbmax speedtest is now coming back at 43000 - so that's better at least.

      Will leave it until tomorrow before moaning to Sky

      No, but with this flipping' 2504n Fibre router, it always does!

      And heaven help us if the "half-speed" problem begins to impact more widely - nobody seems to know what's causing it or when it will be fixed! I'd like to see some interaction with issue affected customers from the techies (like what happens on the Plus.Net community forum) - but I won't be holding my breath for that to happen from our "beloved" provider. When it's good it's good, but when it goes bad it seems to be well supply your own description.

      Well, trying things again now - can get 1.2MB out of internet explorer / wget on linux boxes, had 50000 on a speedtest (bbmax)

      Don't think there is anything wrong locally

      What is telling is that I am the only one on this forum that seems to be having this problem.

      Exchange related issue?

      Possibly, but if you call Sky they will probably as you to wait for 10 days for DLM to finish. Have you checked Sky's website for potential problems?
