Anyone still using it gets a fully fledged TP-Link TL-WR1043ND as they've remotely put a factory firmware on it.
Nice, thats a free 40 router. I bought this router a while ago to replace the sky router.

yes, this router can be used on fibre connections and can replace the sky sagem router. if you just want to use it as another wireless access point just turn off DHCP (or put it into bridge mode if this can be done, i cant check as i dont have the tp-link firmware on mine)

That's my plan using this guide.

Edit: Now done using said guide. That bit was easy. Great guide. Getting the network IPs to be what they were supposed to be was another matter but that was probably down to my inexperience with dd-wrt.

A little warning, when the firmware is changed, it becomes active on your connection and is broadcasting it via unsecured wifi until you get into it and set up security on it etc.

The username and password for accessing it are both 'admin'.

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance

Realised this morning that there was an unsecure TP Link router broadcasting in my wireless connections list, I thought who would be stupid enough nowadays to use a router without security, then after checking it out further I realised it was the test router from ICM. I am furious to think that I have been broadcasting my network to everyone and their dog, not only that but the fact that you can gain access to the Sky router as well by being connected to the TP Link. Only by looking on here and another forum did I find out that the testing has ended. Why the hell were no warning emails sent to advise people that they would be resetting the router back to factory firmware

It was indeed reckless of them, it would have been fairly simple for them to include an instruction in the firmware which enabled the wireless security, even if it used a generic key. That firm seems to have been a bit lackadaisical in their approach, right from the start.

Re: Looking for a more users to help track broadband performance

Ha! Just spotted this thread. Mine had started dishing out IP addresses and messing up my network. I emailed them straight away but no reply.

They could have let us know what they were doing. Anyway, I got my 25 and now have a 40 spare router to add to my collection.

Anyone know if this model is likely to be better at wifi than my old sagem (fibre firmware) which I am using as an extra acess point? The fact it has 3 antennas sticking out the back must count for something?

That suggests it is a full 300mbps wireless N so it should be better than the Sagem. What model is it?

TL-WR1043ND. Yes, it is 300mbps - does that in itself mean the signal will be stronger?

No, not as far as range is concerned, but it does mean if you have compatible wireless adapters, you will connect at a higher speed.

Thanks. Might as well try it. I used Scubbie's guide to joining two routers when I set up the Hub>Sagem. Same steps again for Hub>TP_Link? It won't make any difference that the default setting s for the TP-Link have different address range (192.168.1.xxx)?
