I too agree that the upload speed is on the low side but it does clearly state what you are getting.

I also think that its only a matter of time before they increase the upload rate as a company the size of sky cannot afford not to in my opinion.

      Re: fibre upload speed

When talking to Sky about caps they would have thought you meant usage cap as in how much data you can down/up in a month and rightly stated that Sky have no caps on the service as its totally unlimited for usage, the speed that you can down/up at however is a totally different matter and isnt as such a cap imposed by Sky but just the BTO speed profile used for that product. I often see people saying Sky should have this or that speed using random figures but no CP's including Sky has any controll over what speeds they use other than which BTO profile they use of which there are only 3 currently available for FTTC, 40/2 40/10 & 80/20.

Sky, like some other CP's, has chosen to use the 40/2 & 80/20 profiles for their FTTC products and for some reason do not currently bother with the 40/10 profile, this may or may not change in the future. FTTC from any CP currently comes from BTO's fiber cabs/dslams which is where the available speed profiles are controlled and leased to CP's by BTO and no CP can invent its own speed profile like 40/15 or 80/30 etc unless they fitted their own fiber cabs/dslams and stopped leasing BTO's system.
