18 for this month for usage from 1/5/12 - 27/5/12
      And 20 for 28/5/12 - 27/6/12.
They told me everyone would be charged like this and that the sales
Team should have told people but even the guy on the phone said they haven't
Been doing so as they have had a lot of complaints about it.

For the present I would recommend that everyone on SFU checks their bills every month. There have been too many billing issues relating to this new product.

Re: Sky double charge for first month

I was told I'd pay two months this month, one to pay for May and one for June. I believe this is common practice.

I wasn't told this when I placed my order. Seems like many of the complaints
Are that they haven't told people that they will be charged this way.

I told them I won't be paying the next month fee upfront. It's a daft way to do things.

Re: Sky double charge for first month

I believe that all Sky subscriptions (TV, Phone, Broadband) are charged monthly in advance. So, if you add a service between monthly renewal dates, your next bill will contain:

      1. a pro-rata charge/rebate for the cost of the service added/removed to cover the period of time from the date you added/removed the service up to the day before your next monthly renewal date.
      2. the normal monthly charge for the current services to cover one month in advance.

E.g. my monthly renewal date is the 7th monthly and my bill is usually produced on the 24th monthly, so on 24th May my bill will itemise charges for current services (one month in advance) covering the period 7th June to 6th July.

Clear as mud?! If so, go on MySky and examine previous bills!

Re: Sky double charge for first month

My bill started from my install date. They have gave me 2.00 off due to makeing a error on the bill before. So I should only be billed from the first to the 27/5/12.
The guy on the phone agreed and said they will ring me later after they try and get this charged removed. He did say that it has been done for other customers.

Strange as bt don't charge for the month in advance. Next door neighbour just got infinity 2 and have no extra month in advance charges.

Re: Sky double charge for first month

OK sorry - didn't read your first post properly and didn't realise you are a new customer.

If your first ever Sky bill is dated today, your monthly renewal date (which tends to be the day of the month when you first joined) is likely to be the 1st of the month. The monthly billing date is usually about 14 days before your monthly renewal date to allow for advising you the amount of the bill prior to collecting the payment by direct debit.

So, your SFU charges on today's bill are probably something like this:

      1. one month's charge for the period 1st May to 31st May (in arrears for the period 1st May to today, in advance for the rest of May).
      2. one month's charge for the period 1st June to 30th June (one month's charge in advance).

And then your next bill on say 18th June will just have:

      1. one month's charge for the period 1st July to 31st July (one month's charge in advance).

And so it will go on month after month...

Re: Sky double charge for first month

I been with sky for years. Was out of contract with th and was going to change to bt. Untill they offered me the new fiber. All bills was up to date. ( even had some waiting tI be credited back as allways paid extra.

It just annoys me that I asked about haveing to pay a month in advance and was told sky no longer did this. So wasn't expecting a bill for 77 but for 55.
Will see if they ring me back say they have removed the advance charge.
