ok, when you opened the properties for your network card you are presented with a box that contains something along the lines off:

      Client for Microsoft Networks
      QoS Packet Scheduler
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
      Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
      Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
      and possibly some link-layers

I would unstick TCP/IPv6, click TCP/IPv4, click properties, click obtain an IP address automatically: Ip address 192.168.1.100, Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 then click OK.

Download the unlock firmware from About the HG612 Huawei HG612 Hacking and follow the instructions (on the right in .pdf format) to the letter using the above as a guide when it comes to changing your ip address. turn off wireless on the pc/laptop.

Print the instructions off if you can or alternatively have them on another pc/laptop whilst going through the steps. good luck and be careful

EDIT: if you don't feel comfortable/confident in unlocking the modem then please don't risk it

If you are having this much problem, then I'd suggest that this might not be a good time for you to hack the Modem.

I realise that some have improved their upload speeds a little by turning Interleaving off, but otherwise all you can do is to see the connection stats.

As for the original BTO Firmware, if I recall correctly it is available somewhere to download so you can revert back to it.

I don't know which OS you are using, but there are plenty of help pages available on the Internet to give you guidance on changing the IPv4 Address on your network adaptor for each version of Windows. Use 'ipconfig' to confirm that you have changed them and work from there.
I really wasn't intending to be rude?? My apologies if i came across like that! Sorry peeps.

You're just showing off now! LOL.

Roll on the 17th when hopefully Sky will call me to re-book my Openreach no-show, then it will be 14 sleeps (hopefully) for me!

DM's been able to order SFU since it was launched. He just hasn't gone for it.
