looks good. dont trust speed testers too much.

I got a pretty constant 3.6Mb/s with that, only fluctuating by 0.1 each way.

EDIT: I also tried out testmy.net with a 200MB file and got 4.99Mb/s

the amount of people affected with slow speed is only a small minority and its not only sky customers that have been affected. so dont panic

I've had a 94 IP address since I was first connected. Today we had a power cut for about an hour and I now have a 176 IP address and my download speed has dropped from 37 Mbps to around 16 Mbps. The line is still sync'd at 39998/9999. Too much of a coincidence as far as I'm concerned.

I turned off my router for about 40 mins and I've got a 94 IP address again and the download speed is back up to the 37Mbps mark again.

      Interesting but still slightly worrying!

I thought that the 176.x.x.x IP address theory had been discounted (either ob here or on the "half-speed" thread on the Sky Help Forum) but either there is still something to it or your experience was an unlucky co-incidence?

I suppose the cause of the "half-speed" issue will eventually be identified, but it's been going on for quite a while now.

      Just a thought...

Perhaps 94 works well for someone in say town a where 176 is bad. Whilst in town b it is the other way around. Yet another person in town c has no issues on any IP address ranges.

It is possible that this issue could be a real mix of issues and non-issues, depending where you live.

Agreed, it must be a particular combination of issues and circumstances.

When this issue was first reported, I did wonder if it was just an issue in one particular town/conty/region, but it doesn't seem to be that.

Nor does it seem to be wholly related to particular IP address range.

I'm sure they will get to the root cause and fix it eventually, but I don't suppose we'll ever know what was wrong!

In the meantime, it must be annoying for those affected (not sure I would have the patience to stick with it) and a bit worrying for those not affected (if it can be a floating issue that could surface unexpectedly for anyone).
