If you could report back and confirm what you get with different browsers it would be useful.
I was going to post and ask you Scubbie if you had been on the beer when I read your post's asking peeps to run speed test from different browser's .
Then I just tried what you said for a bit of fun and boy oh boy was I wrong. I tried the same speed tester on 6 browser's what a difference in results.
IE 9 , Safari , Chrome and Opera give back my correct speed give or take but FireFox and SeaMonkey came back way off base with 56/12Mb and 62/10Mb. Really interesting.

If the "IP Layer" issue as described in that post is contributing to the half-speed issue, maybe a half-speed sufferer could try using alternative DNS servers (such as OpenDNS) instead of the Sky DNS servers to see if that improves their connection speed and throughput?

      Hi!

Tried changing to the open DNS and bang - 34.5Mb! Up from 23Mb! Perhaps Sky's DNS is the issue?

I would suggest that others with the half speed issue, try this too!

      Doobs!

Already using Google DNS, has made no difference to me, although things seem more consistent, if not full speed.

As an idea, why not try some other public DNS servers?

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

re: Sky Admits fault with Sky and BT network resulting in slow connects @ 1/2 speed

Could this be a routing issue with Sky's servers and their DNS? I had a server in the Uk that had rubbish routing to the main networks with very high latency. Moved it to the US and it went down by half. Just a thought...
