The 360 and PS3 are not N type so you will notice no difference.

The iPhone 4 and 4S and Ipad 2 are all N type so will be better for that. As for your laptop it depends what your wireless card is. You could always use an N type adapter if it is not if connection is an issue

re: Before I attach my airport extreme router will it

ok well iphone4 and ipad 2 have wireless N i donno about your laptop and both 360 and ps3 is G the router won't help with the 360 and ps3 (i've just plug my ps3 my new switch)

the laptop depends on what its got in it, laptop i'm on now is wireless N but only connects to the sky router at 65mbps only a yard away

it can help the iphone 4 and ipad 2 it might help the laptop and thats it

Just to correct Johnelf (sorry). If you have the Xbox 360 slim. That is wireless N built in.

If the AE is a new one it should be dual band which will cover both your G and N Cards, if nothing else it will improve the wifi signal and easy to set up in bridge mode.

Re: Before I attach my airport extreme router will it

You won't see any WiFi connection speeds faster than 65 Mbit/s with either iPads or iPhones even when connected to an Airport even when using dual band mode as I believe there's only 1 WiFi antenna in both iPhones and iPads.

Laptops and desktops do usual have more though.

Single band N routers (running in the 2.4 GHZ band) can only connect upto a maximum link speed of 195 Mbit/s. Dual band routers running in the 5 Ghz band do offer the maximum link speed of 450 Mbit/s but again it just depends on how many WiFi antennas there are in the device you are connecting.

For example my Macbook links at 300 Mbit/s but my iMac does link at the full 450 MBit/s using my dual band Time Capsule as the iMac has more antennas.
