      Those figures look just fine

Sure they could be marginally better on a wired connection, but I can't see any cause for complaint there.

      Re: Are my speeds right?

I've had fibre two weeks now, only getting 16mb down and 1.8 up. Had BTO out, turns out the cable from my home to the cabinet is aluminium hence the abysmal download speed. Talking to sky about how to resolve this, when they checked my line when I ordered I was told it was capable of 37mb down. Not happy at all!!!! Looking to get out of contract and go back to adsl, current fibre speed is not value for money.

Technically Sky has up to 3 months to get this fixed. If they can't, then you can leave without any penalty as your connection speed is below that which was predicted.

Personally I would want the faster speed (i.e. 40mb) and I suspect that a few polite calls to various managers may be in order to get this addressed and dealt with.

You may wish to consider contacting the Executive Team if you feel that you are being stonewalled by Sky. Sky should have the ability to get BTO out to change the cabling from aluminium or aluminium coated copper to copper cable.

What is your sync speed? You may be one of the many who are only getting half of what you should due to problems at Sky's end.

      Re: Are my speeds right?

Is it now confirmed that the problem is at Sky's end? There are differing theories (including my own) about the possible cause of this half-speed problem, but is there any conclusive evidence yet of the cause? yesterday on the Sky Help Forum, a Sky Knowledge Advisor posted that there was no problem!
